Select Management and Security Ltd has provided security for several broadcasters during the 2010 Westminster elections.

Working across Northern Ireland, Select provided staff to counting centres and city centres to ensure the live broadcasts went smoothly without any interruptions.

Andrew McQuillan, Director, commented on the operation:

“We are very happy with how well the operation went. Our well rehearsed plans were put into practice with an attempted pipe bomb attack on one of our counting centres but our staff reacted quickly ensuring all our client’s staff were evacuated and accounted for.

Our Security Officer used our local Police contacts to enable us to get an accurate picture of the developing situation so our client would advise their Control Room when they could go back on the air live.

This type of operation, spread out across practically every part of Northern Ireland, is not easy. We always ensure that our resilience policy is in force and every site has an entire backup crew should we need to replace a Security Officer who has gone sick or indeed increase our security presence onsite due to ongoing security alerts or threats.”

Select is now the market leader for Outside Broadcast security and has plans to expand its client base to the rest of the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
