News - Take Off For Select At NI International Airshow
Select Security has provided Event Stewarding and Crowd Management for the second year running at the Northern IrelandNI International Airshow in Portrush.
Select has been working with Coleraine Borough Council since 2008 to ensure the safety of the massive crowds that attend the airshow.
For 2009, Select were also tasked with providing Event Directional Signage to get drivers to and from the event in the quickest and safest way possible.
Andrew McQuillan, Director, commented: “Due to the vast crowds that attend this event, we have to be proactive in putting best practice into place when it comes to Crowd Safety Management. The training our staff undergo, such as the NCFE Level 2 Stewarding qualification, really plays a big part in doing this.
Our role at the event is constantly evolving as the day progresses, moving staff around to ensure they are best placed to manage ingress, movement throughout the site and egress. This year proved as successful as last and we responded to the changing requirements of event smoothly and quickly.”
Demonstrating Selects resilience in provision of Crowd Safety Management services, additional staff were deployed during build up and on the Sunday due to the constantly evolving operational changes during the airshow.
Paul Gallagher from event organisers, Coleraine Borough Council, said, “We are delighted to be in partnership with Select for a second year and have found their attitude and performance to be a large contribution to the success of the show. The team was our eyes and ears for the weekend and they were able to adapt to the dynamics of the huge crowd that the Airshow attracts. Select was also able to integrate very well with the other safety agencies who manage the event.”
