News - Select Secures Belfast Pride

Select Security Group Ltd has ensured that Belfast Pride passed off peacefully this year and that an enjoyable time was had by all.

This was the first time that Select had secured the event, our expertise, training policy and use of innovative technology meant that the Belfast Pride committee were eager to work with Northern Irelands leading Event Stewarding and Crowd Management Company.

Select were mainly deployed at Party in the Square in front of Custom House but were also tasked to work alongside Police Service of Northern Ireland and Pride Volunteers to marshal the crowds that had gathered for the event. Together they ensured that all spectators stayed safely on the pavement and pedestrian areas as the parade passed by.

A capacity crowd of 5,000 gathered at Custom House Square after the parade and Select was responsible for crowd safety including searching the public, managing the front of stage, backstage security and responding to any incidents within the event site.

Roy Semple, Operations Manager, commented: “The event had a fantastic energy to it and I know all the staff enjoyed themselves. The success of the operation was also thanks to the planning which we undertook in conjunction with Pride organisers from the very outset. Working together with all agencies, we ensured that each stakeholder knew their role and interaction necessary with the Crowd Safety Management Team.”
