News - Select show their green credentials at Green Gathering ‘11

Select provided the Crowd Management and Event Security for the recent Green Gathering Festival held at Chepstow Racecourse in South Wales at the end of July.

The event saw staff travel from Northern Ireland and England bases to work at the event. Andrew McQuillan, Director, commented;

“The last weekend of July is always very busy for us and this year was no exception. Whilst ensuring Green Gathering was a safe event, we also looked after other events such as Belfast Pride and a major sporting event in Ireland.

I am thrilled that our emphasis on utilising green transport, such as our Bicycle Patrols, has shown that we are willing to embrace our client’s events and support them throughout. We look forward to a very long and successful working relationship with Green Gathering in the years to come”

Organiser, Steve Muggs, commented on behalf of the directors of Green Gathering; “Having enjoyed a positive and pro-active working relationship with Select in the preparation for the event, the delivery of the operation in the field, at the event, exceeded the expectations of Green Gathering organisers.

Directors of the event have received uniformly positive feed-back from both staff and those attending the event. The positive responses focused primarily on the courteous and flexible manner of Select staff and management at the event, while maintaining a high degree of vigilance. This was reflected in the very low rate of ‘incidents’ at the event and contributed significantly to the perception of the Green Gathering by the venue and local authority of a safe and well organised event.

Directors were further impressed by the real commitment of Select in embracing Greener and more sustainable methods of conducting their security brief. The deployment of bicycle patrols along some of the site perimeter was most effective in allowing operational flexibility and response, while reducing the carbon footprint of both the security operation and the event.

Having worked with many security companies over the many years of Green Gatherings, Select demonstrated the best practice yet in delivering their brief within the context of environmental sustainability.”
