News - Select Secures Halloween

Select Security Group Ltd has ensured the safety of thousands of children and adults across Northern Ireland during this year’s Halloween celebrations.

Select, Northern Ireland’s leading Event Security and Crowd Safety Management company, began its annual Halloween season on Thursday at Rushmere Shopping Centre where Craigavon Borough Council held their annual festivities and fireworks display.

Andrew McQuillan commented: “Increasingly we have found new clients turning to us as, whilst we are well known as an innovative retail security provider, we can combine this with our proven experience in delivering sound and safe Crowd Safety Management services. With the increase in footfall in Shopping Centres, and indeed stores themselves during sales and the run up to the busy seasonal period, it is vital that crowd management plans are developed and enforced to ensure the safety of everyone shopping or attending festivities.

Our operations at Rushmere for Halloween involved deploying additional staff within the mall to maximise foot flow whilst ensuring their safety. In addition to this we provided Traffic Management Stewards to enable everyone to find a space in Rushmere’s ample car parking facilities before the event started. Once it began our staff reverted to Crowd Management roles at the rear of the centre for the fireworks display.

One of the larger events the company oversaw on Saturday night was Larne Borough Council’s Halloween festivities at Carnfunnock Country Park.

Stephen Harrison, Operations Manager said: “We have been providing a range of services including Event Security, Crowd Safety Management and Traffic Management stewards over the past year and were excited to be awarded the contract for their Halloween and Christmas events, such is testament to our strong working relationship.

The event emphasised that whilst our Event Stewards are the most qualified in Northern Ireland, we ensure they can multiskill and provide associated services required by each unique event. Some of the diverse jobs we assisted Larne Borough Council with included guiding groups through a maze, and assisting with registration of competitors.

The night was well attended and the knights of the damned jousting ensured that this event was one to remember for everyone attending and working.
