Select Welcomes SIA To Northern Ireland

News - Select Welcomes SIA To Northern Ireland

Select Security Group Ltd, one of Northern Ireland’s leading Security and Crowd Safety Management companies, has today welcomed the Security Industry Authority to its new role as regulator of all security officers within Northern Ireland.

Select recognised the need to train staff well before the official announcement and the first training was completed and licenses were granted in March 2008. Since then the company has worked closely with Edexcel and expanded its own internal training team to copy with the hundreds of qualifications that have been issued. Select Security Group Ltd has also helped train many staff from other security companies within Northern Ireland and is currently the only company in Northern Ireland accredited to train Vehicle Immobilisation.

Director of Select, Andrew McQuillan, confirmed that all of the company’s Security Officers had obtained their relevant the Security Industry Authority licence. He commented;

“Ever since the Security Industry Authority established their Northern Ireland staff, we have proactively engaged with them and worked to ensure that we were fully ready for this change. We see the new licensing regime as very positive and a real chance to push up standards and professionalism in the industry. We have been delighted at the way our staff have responded and worked very hard to obtain their professional qualifications and licenses”.

The Security Industry Authority also run the Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS), which is the new quality standard within the private security industry. Again, Select has been working very hard to prepare for this and hope to achieve ACS status in the first quarter of 2010.
