The SOS BUS NI has been appointed the official charity of Select Security Group Ltd. Select Security Group Ltd employees across the whole company will be fundraising to support this fantastic cause and the company will be supporting the SOS Bus charity by assisting it obtain work at various events where people may need First Aid, Counselling and Welfare services.

The SOS BUS NI is a charity established by Joe Hyland in 2007 to offer support and practical help to people out and about in Belfast at night. Based on the Dublin Road, in the heart of the night time economy, their 60ft bright yellow and purple bendy bus offers reassurance to anyone who is injured, unwell, lost, alone or simply on their way home. Funded through the NIO, PSNI and the private sector, SOS bus depends on public donations to maintain its great service.

On board is a state of the art medical bay, similar to that found in an ambulance and an area where people can talk to the friendly volunteers about issues that concern them. Outside there are volunteers who are keen to assist people and are watching out for anyone in need, who looks vulnerable, injured or in need of support. They also offer free tea, coffee and biscuits for anyone passing.

During the day time the bus can be seen operating within various communities in Belfast and visiting schools across the province.

Andrew McQuillan, Director, commented: “I have been personally supporting and assisting the SOS BUS NI since its early days of operation. I am delighted that Select can now support something which I truly believe has helped lower crime and increase public safety in Belfast during the evening. I know from first hand experience that our Door Supervisors can use the SOS Bus to help anyone intoxicated or injured in the City Centre and anyone they refer receives top class medical attention and support. It is only fitting that we select the SOS BUS NI as our official charity for the next year and I hope our fundraising and support can help them expand across the province to help more people year on year.”
